New survey confirms that Government policy is negatively impacting patients and doctors
The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) has said that a new survey from the Medical Council confirms that the Government’s policy towards new entrant consultants is driving our highly trained doctors and consultants abroad and undermining acute hospital care for patients.

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) said the findings of the unpublished HSE’s National Doctors Training and Planning (NDTP) unit report, as confirmed in today’s Sunday Business Post, are a damning indictment of the government’s policy which has undermined hospital consultant recruitment. This is of significant importance as it is gravely damaging the delivery of timely care to patients.

IHCA Statement on HSE Winter Plan 2018/2019
Friday 7th December 2018: The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) has said it is concerned that the HSE’s Winter Plan unveiled yesterday is inadequate to address the high risk of an extremely damaging hospital crisis in the New Year, which could last for months. This is because the Plan has been announced too late and it is very limited given the huge capacity deficits that have built up in our public hospitals over the past decade.
